THE STAYPINEAPPLE IMPACT

“We have a responsibility to always do better” Michelle Barnet, Founder and Chief Pineapple

Staypineapple is hospitality redefined. We care deeply for our guests, team members, our communities and the environment. It’s the Pineapple way!

We have made incredible strides over the years to reduce our carbon footprint, from eliminating single-use plastic water bottles and replacing them with refillable bottles to using 70% renewable energy in hotel operations and being one of the first hotel brands to implement refillable in-room soap dispensers instead of the industry standard’s single-use soap bottles. While we are proud of these accomplishments, our organization's foundational belief in "always striving to do better" means that we must stay committed to contributing to a more sustainable future.

Our green initiative accomplishments and commitment goals for this year and beyond include:

2024

We have successfully eliminated all single-use plastic water bottles and replaced them with complimentary PATH refillable water bottles and Quench Water Bar refill stations that offer cold, hot, still or sparkling water options. This milestone helps to divert nearly 500,000 single-use plastic water bottles from landfills annually.

In efforts to increase recyclables and compost diversion from the current 30% to 50% by the end of this year, we launched a waste diversion training program for team members.

2026

We will continue our efforts in powering our properties using renewable energy by increasing our percentage to 90%.

2027

With our waste diversion training program firmly in place, we will continue our commitment made in 2024 by achieving a 75% recycling rate among all of our properties.

Staypineapple continues to foster partnerships that help accelerate the hospitality industry’s environmental responsibilities. These partnerships include:

Staypineapple recently signed AHLA’s ResponsibleStay commitment, which focuses on improving environmental and social responsibility in four pillars of sustainability: waste reduction, water conservation, energy efficiency and responsible sourcing practices.

Green Key: We are pursuing a certification which demonstrates a hotel’s commitment to improving environmental and social performance.

Cornell Hotel Sustainability Benchmarking Index (CHSB): We are actively participating in this industry-led global data initiative that enables any hotel to calculate its carbon footprint and benchmark its energy, water and carbon emissions.
