Tucked inside the historic Reliance Building — and now officially one of Chicago’s most buzzed-about new restaurants — Mariela opened its doors at Staypineapple Chicago on May 6, and it’s already bringing a whole new energy to the space.

Serving up major flavor (and serious cool factor) on State Street, Mariela comes from award-winning Chicago chefs Rishi Kumar and Zubair Mohajir, alongside beverage director David Mor, the team behind nationally recognized Mirra. The menu pulls inspiration from Southwest Asia, the Americas, and Europe, blending coastal flavors with playful twists that somehow feel both adventurous and instantly comforting.

The vibe? Think warm seaside town energy dropped right into the middle of downtown Chicago. Inside the already cozy and welcoming atmosphere of Staypineapple Chicago, Mariela brings a breezy escape from the bustle outside, with inviting interiors, creative cocktails, and State Street views that turn any meal into an experience.
