A University of Washington Hotel with a Pool — Yes, Really
University Inn, A Staypineapple Hotel
University Inn is steps from the University of Washington campus and one of the only hotels in the area with a seasonal outdoor pool, open May through September. If you're visiting in the warmer months, that's a detail worth knowing.
On the UW campus
The campus is a short walk away and worth more time than a typical admissions tour covers. A few things specifically worth seeing:
- Drumheller Fountain: On a clear day, the view straight down the fountain to Mount Rainier is one of the best photo spots in Seattle. Easy to miss if nobody tells you about it.
- Suzzallo Library: Gothic reading room, open to visitors, genuinely stunning
- The Quad: Cherry trees that peak in late March through mid-April; see the cherry blossom page for timing tips
- Husky Stadium: Right on the water's edge of Lake Washington, one of the best settings in college sports
Getting There from the Hotel
University Inn is a short walk to campus. The U District Light Rail Station is nearby for game days when the surrounding streets get congested — one stop and you're there. Grab a complimentary Pineapple Bike for the Burke-Gilman Trail if you'd rather ride.
When to Visit
- Admissions visits: You're right there, no commute needed
- Husky football: Season runs September through November
- Graduation weekend: June commencement is one of the busiest weekends of the year in the U District; book well in advance
- Cherry blossom season: Late March through mid-April; fleeting and worth planning around
- Summer visits: The pool is open May through September, which puts University Inn in a different category from most nearby options
