Sleep Steps From the UW Cherry Blossoms
Watertown Hotel, A Staypineapple Hotel
The UW Quad cherry blossoms are one of Seattle's most spectacular spring sights — and Watertown Hotel is a short 10-minute walk from campus. When the trees peak, usually late March through early April, the Quad transforms into a tunnel of pink and white that draws visitors from across the region. You'll want to be close.
About the UW cherry blossoms
The UW Quad is lined with over 30 Yoshino cherry trees that have been blooming every spring for decades. At peak bloom the canopy closes overhead, making it one of the most photographed spots in Seattle. A few things worth knowing before you go:
- Timing is unpredictable. Peak bloom typically falls between late March and mid-April depending on the year's weather. The UW Botanic Gardens posts bloom updates — worth checking before you book.
- Go early in the morning. The Quad gets crowded fast once the blossoms hit. Early morning light is also the best for photos.
- It only lasts about a week. At full peak the blossoms drop quickly, especially after rain or wind. Don't wait.
The U District Cherry Blossom Festival runs alongside bloom season, with local businesses offering cherry blossom-themed food, drinks, and retail specials throughout the neighborhood.
