For Those Who Came to Portland for the Art
Hotel Rose, A Staypineapple Hotel
Hotel Rose is a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive from the Portland Art Museum — close enough to make a morning visit before checkout, or to pop back to the hotel between galleries.
About the Portland Art Museum
The Portland Art Museum is the oldest art museum in the Pacific Northwest, recently transformed by a major expansion that added the new Mark Rothko Pavilion as its striking front entrance. The permanent collection spans more than 42,000 works including Native American art, European masters, and Pacific Northwest artists, alongside major traveling exhibitions year-round. Check portlandartmuseum.org for current exhibitions and hours.
Insider Tip
Admission is free on the first Thursday of every month, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. If your trip lines up with a First Thursday, it's worth planning around — the museum gets lively and the energy is great, but arrive early if you want a quieter experience with the collection.
Getting There
From Hotel Rose, it's a 15-minute walk through the South Park Blocks — a pleasant stroll in its own right. A short rideshare works if the weather isn't cooperating.
While You're Here
Bottle + Kitchen is right downstairs at Hotel Rose for a meal before you head out or a drink when you get back. Tom McCall Waterfront Park is directly across the street if you want to extend the afternoon outside.
